Our Team

Meet the NVGFF Team. These girls have worked all year long, juggling school work, festival work, and sports, to make this festival possible.

Ella Marks

My name is Ella Marks. I am 13 years old and going into 7th grade. My hobbies include acting, creative writing, tennis, soccer, basketball, and volleyball, and filmmaking. I began making short movies in 3rd grade, and I have become more interested in filmmaking as I have grown older. In 5th grade, Charlotte and I created our first film together called "Annoying Apple", about an apple and his crazy adventures. Since then, Charlotte and I have made 6 Annoying Apple movies with the help of our sisters, Maggie and Caitlin. Making short films is a way I am able so share my creativity with others, and I hope the NVGFF will enable other girls to do the same.

Charlotte Kane

My name is Charlotte Kane and I am 13 years old and going into the 7th grade. Some things I like to do in my free time are play soccer, basketball, and softball, play the guitar, piano and ukulele, writing, acting, doodling, coding, screenwriting and, film making! I started making films by myself in younger grades, and it usually would be my go to activity when any friends came over. In 5th grade, Ella and I began making our first series of movies together in 5th grade. They were called Annoying Apple. It was really just a fun thing to do on the weekends, and soon our sisters joined us and frequently starred in our films. We continued making them until we had the idea for the Noe Valley Girls Film Festival. I hope that the NVGFF will help get more girls see how fun film making is and meet new people. I hope that the NVGFF will bring people of Noe Valley together.

Maggie Marks

My name is Maggie Marks. I am going into 5th grade and I am 10 years old. Some of my favorite activities are soccer, basketball, art, acting, science, and of course filmmaking. I became interested in making films in 3rd grade, when my sister Ella and her friend Charlotte asked me to star in one of their "Annoying Apple" films. I wanted to do more than just act in it, so I helped edit the film too. I was included in all of the Annoying Apple films after that. They really inspired me to make movies, so now I make my own films too! Acting in films is not the same as making films. There are plenty of female actors, but not female filmmakers. I hope that the NVGFF will inspire other girls to make films.

Caitlin Kane

My name is Caitlin Kane. I am 10 years old. I am going into 5th grade. Some of my hobbies are drawing, acting, guitar, soccer, rollerblading, cooking, poetry, creative writing, screen writing and film making. In 2nd grade I became interested in making movies when my teachers introduced the app “iMovie”. I got way more interested in film making in 3rd grade when my friend Maggie came back from Spain. We enjoyed making movies and starring in our sister’s Annoying Apple. My goal for the NVGFF is to tell girls that they can be unique in anyway andthey don’t need to be seen in movies as just beautiful sidekicks, they can be whoever they want to be.
